Meet Bill Tonight

Odds are you’ll be greeted personally by Susky River Grille owner Bill Herold during your next visit, and that’s a good thing. (Before you know it, you’ll be laughing at his jokes and inviting him to pull up a chair and join you!)

Like an old friend, Bill wants you to be comfortable and have fun in his restaurant. Luckily, between the Key West atmosphere, national-class comedy club and big-screen TV’s perfect for cheering on the Ravens, it’s just about impossible not to have fun at Cecil County’s newest restaurant and club.

The Story of Susky River Grille

While Bill spent years making a name for himself with his concrete business, he never forgot how much fun he had working part-time in a nightclub in his younger days.

Bill always wanted to own a place where his family and friends—including those he says he “hasn’t met yet”—could gather and relax while enjoying a bite to eat, a few cocktails and good company. And he always loved the water and warm summer days. So when after ten years of searching for the right place he found the waterfront location on the Susquehanna that is now Susky River Grille, he jumped at the chance, and in 2009 his dream finally came to life.

Family-Owned and Operated

Born and raised in Baltimore, Bill moved to Port Deposit to raise his family and be near the water. Over the years he has been active in the local community, serving in various political and civic capacities including president of the local school board. Today, Bill is proud to have his entire family involved in some capacity operating Susky River Grille.

Worth the Trip to Port Deposit

While located just minutes from I-95, the historic town of Port Deposit is tucked away– you don’t drive past it on your way to anywhere else. You don’t even boat past it because north of Susky along the scenic Susquehanna is Rocks State Park.

So Bill knew he had to create a destination worth the trip. That’s why people are already driving in from as far as Philadelphia, and why this fall Susky is unveiling even more great reasons to come to Port Deposit year-round.
